you rock ...

Here's another sneak peek at a couple of the new images from the a*muse 2007 spring release!

I was so excited to see the little MP3 player! I love my iPod ... slightly addicted to it actually ... so this one was pretty exciting to me!

The images are stamped on an a*muse popsicle pink notecard in Staz-On black and colored in with Sakura gel pens.

sneaky peek at the a*muse 2007 spring release ...

Whoo hoo!

The green light came through overnight to start sharing sneaky peeks of the a*muse 2007 spring release! There are soooo many cute things coming out!

Like this little birdcage! I love it! And paired with the tiny bird? I love it even more! (I have a thing about little birds, especially little BLUE ones!) The blue in THIS one comes from a Sakura Glaze pen. I really wanted that little blue guy to pop and I think the ribbon adds another fun punch of color! The bird and cage were stamped with Staz-On black on white!

Stayed tuned! More sneak peeks to come!

swak ...

My mom is the coolest! I got a box from her the other day that had one of those uber popular little mailboxes in it! But wait, it gets better! There were a gazillion small Valentine's Day stamps from Michael's in there! Yeppers! All those cute $1 guys! Some pretty darn cute little stamps! Needless to say, there are no Michael's within 3000 miles of me ... so it's a real treat to get these!!! Thanks, Mom!

And these quick, simple cards were created using one of the $1 sets! The first one up there is a 4? x 4? white card (SU Whisper White). The lips were stamped with Versamark embossing ink and embossed with a glittery red powder. "SWAK" was stamped in Staz-on Black.

This second card uses the same two stamps, circle punches, and a smidge of skinny black and white gingham. Lips stamped in SU Real Red and "SWAK" in Staz-on Black.

My friend Emily and I drove up to the stamping shop (Stempelmeer) in Oberursal (not too far from Frankfurt). It's been a while since we've been up that way and I was surprised at all the changes I saw! They've always had a HUGE stock of a*muse stamps and cardstock, but they've also expanded to carry some cool embellishments as well! Lots of Prima Flowers, brads, eyelets ... all those "simple" things you guys in other countries are so used to seeing, but are soooo hard to come by here any way other than mail order! It was SUCH a treat! For the local folks reading ... be sure to check that out. It's such a cool shop (and an EASY sidetrip from the airport if you happen to be up that way with time to kill). Emily and I had a fun, fun day filled with potty training (her 2.5 year old daughter was along ... she and I are already housebroken *wink*) and navigational adventures! *grin*

Another cool thing was seeing a couple of my a*muse designs hanging in the shop. Soooo cool!

And tonight ... the first snowfall of the year! Sure, it wasn't a LOT of snow, and the ground isn't even covered, but after a weird, weird winter of no snow at all ... I'll take what I can get!

And in other way exciting news ... stayed tuned! I'll have some sneak peeks from the a*muse 2007 spring release VERY soon!!! In the meantime, check out the a*muse news blog for a peek at the new notecards! You guys are gonna' love this release! I can't wait to share some of the cuteness!!!

Hope all you folks headed to CHA are having a blast! I'm so hoping Jen Pebbles fills us in on Martha's keynote speech! I'm a dork, I know. *grin*

more valentine goodness ...

I love all the pink and hearts and girlie Valentine's Day things that start popping up this time of year. Granted, I don't see too much of it here, but a girl can dream (and shop online)! I used to love hitting Target this time of year, but I digress .. needless to say I'm all about stamping Valentine-ie things right now!

This was such an easy peasy card! Remember the glittered heart on the card I did for Julie's sketch a few days back? Well, here it is again! This time I glittered it with SU Dazzling Diamonds which makes the heart look very pale and pink (it was punched out of SU Real Red cardstock). I used a circle punch on an a*muse popsicle pink notecard, adhered the heart with a glue dot to the inside, and added the small "love you" sentiment (Sweet Talk from SU stamped in Staz-On Black) in the bottom corner. This one will go off in the mail to my mom later today. *grin*

more fun with damask ...

A few days ago I posted a few black and white cards using this same layout and stamp (Damask by SU). When I stamped those, I also stamped this one on SU Real Red. My idea was to accent it with black for an opposite effect, but the black wasn't working for me, so I set it aside. I'd pick it up every once in a while, test some things out, but would ultimately put it pack down again. After a day or so of playing around, I ended up with this! The white pigment ink looks almost pink on the red cardstock, so why not bring that out! I added a bit more ribbon and a Doodlebug Designs heart sequin to a stick pin (I'm lovin' stick pins this week) and pushed it through the knot in the inital ribbon!

julie's sketch challenge ...

What can I say? Julie is my stampin' hero. I mean, really, she's such a creative inspiration and real class act! She posted a sketch challenge on her blog the other day and I wanted to play too!

I had a tough time with it though. You'd think, having the design laid out for me, that it would have been easy peasy, but for some reason it was tough choosing what to put IN that sketch. The background is the "big bl" background from a*muse stamped in SU Pretty in Pink and the stem from a random flower I markered in SU Certainly Celery. To make the heart, I ran a strip of SU Real Red through a mini Xyron machine, then used a heart punch; then added superfine pink glitter and attached it with glue dots. The verse (from SU Curvy Verses) was stamped with Staz-On Black.

tickled pink ...

When I first thumbed through the SU Sell-a-bration catalog this was not the first set that immediately attracted my attention, but it's come to be my favorite. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is I like so much about this set, but I think the pig and cow are too darn cute.

Here's a close-up. I stamped the piggy twice in Cameo Coral SU Ink (masking the sentiment), cutting out his nose and popping it up slightly with a glue dot. Inked the sentiment in black, stamping it a bit off-center. The dots below it (All in a Row from SU) were also stamped in Cameo Coral. Is that little pig cute or what?

bee my valentine ...

A quick little design for Valentine's Day in non-traditional Valentine's Day colors! I love the little bee kid stamp from a*muse! I stamped him twice on white paper, just eye-balled it, colored a yellow stripe with a Sakura glaze pen, layered it on black, and stuck it down to an a*muse papaya colored notecard! Love those pre-cut notecards! It doesn't get much simpler!

getting back into the swing of things ...

It's been a long couple of frustrating months ... but I'm happy to report that yesterday was the first day I was up and about that didn't end back in bed and feeling icky. I even got some stamping in! Things are looking up! Whoo hoo!

I was having creative difficulties and decided to thumb through the latest Paper Crafts in hopes of inspiration. I really liked the samples of black and white cards paired with bright colors and decided to start there. I inked the background stamp (Damask, retired SU) with white pigment ink and stamped it on SU Basic Black cardstock (cut to 4" x 4") using a piece of scrap to mask a bit of the left side. Then added a red satin ribbon. Now, yes. it's true ... this one IS retired, but just about any background stamp would work just dandy!

I'm also lovin' the new Fancy Flexible Phrases set from the SU Winter Mini and I think the font goes perfectly with this one! I stamped a couple of sentiments on SU Real Red cardstock, punched them out with the word window punch, and added a couple of silver eyelets. I used a wee portion of sheer ribbon to tie them to the ribbon already in place.

I still felt like playing with this idea, so I stamped Damask again on a 5" x 4" sized card (masking the side with scrap paper again). Added ribbon and a pin. I still think this one needs something, just not sure what yet.

I tried the same approach on red cardstock too. The white pigment ink almost looks pink ... lots of possibilities, but I've yet to figure out how to finish it. I'll keep you posted!

I also did some springtime stamping and pulled out a few older A Muse Valentine images to play with. I'll share those with you tomorrow!

remember me ...

Hey folks! Remember me?

December kicked my butt and then blew on by me. The week after my birthday I got sick. I mean, really sick. And all my grand plans of homemade and handmade holiday goodness flew out the window. And each time I started to feel a little bit better, I would rush up and out, and ... end up back on the couch. Which, unfortunately, is where I am yet again. I had a few days of feeling like a normal human being, but it didn't last long. Bah. As soon as I'm back up and at 'em I'll be mailing my better-late-than-never holiday greetings! It's the thought that counts, right?

Speaking of which ... a big THANK YOU to Caroline for a very cool little package! It was a treat!

So ... if anyone's still out there reading ... I'm hoping to be up and running again in the next day or so! Hope your New Year is off to a great start! Happy 2007!
