Today I have chairs in my house!  Real, honest-to-goodness chairs to sit on!

Chairs and boxes.

Hundreds and hundreds of boxes!

Yep!  The first shipment of household items arrived today!  Which is MOST of our stuff (except for about half of my crafty space: the bad thing is that I won't know WHICH half until they start unpacking tomorrow)! But I'm focusing on good things.  Like ... having a chair to sit on.  Let me tell you, multiple months in an empty house gets old FAST.  *laugh*  Wow, I can't believe our stuff is finally here.  It's been so long.  It's crossed an ocean twice now (and probably will again).  Crazy.

And today is, in the midst of all the moving chaos, my 13th wedding anniversary!

making halloween

I keep singing that in my head ... "making halloween" ... I THINK it's a song in Nightmare Before Christmas, but I'm not 100% certain.  I know there's a "making Christmas" bit, but I digress. *smile*  D and I have spent the past few days decorating our pretty-much-empty house for Halloween.  And since (are you sick of reading this year) I haven't been able to be card-making-crafty yet, I thought I'd share a few photos!

Aren't these bats great!?  D saw something like this on the Martha Stewart Halloween special and decided he HAD to do it.  (Yep, he was watching Martha too ... and all this time I thought he was ignoring it!)  So a couple of days ago he sat on the kitchen floor while I baked and cut out twenty of these puppies (he drew them freehand).  Yesterday he and a visiting friend from NJ tied fishing line to the bats and to push pins.  Can you say "tedious"?!  But it was so worth it ... they look GREAT in our entry way!

A bit of crow love on one of our mantles!  I love these little guys.  They have bendy wires and can be attached to nearly anything.  We have 'em here, on a chandelier, above our interior window shutters, on birdcages ... they're awesome!

And lastly, our furbaby, Eenie ... wearing a Halloween scarf her "grandma" sent her.  D keeps asking me why I hate her.  *laugh*  I personally think she looks pretty cute!

I have to say ... as much as I hated moving from Germany, it's so cool to be someplace Halloween is REALLY celebrated.  I love it!  And it's been so fun to decorate the house and NOT have a billion strange looks when we carve pumpkins and hang bats in our porch!  *laugh*

Hope you guys are enjoying Halloween goodness too!

celebrating elzybells

The new Elzybells images are up on the Elzybells NA blog!

Head on over to the blog, leave a comment letting 'em know which image is your favorite, and maybe you'll win a prize!

boo accordian book

I started getting twitchy without my stamps and crafty stuff and started looking for things (anything!) to do in the meantime.   Not long after we moved, a box arrived from my mother with Martha Stewart Halloween goodies that she'd been planning to send to me in Germany.  And when we finally got a bit settled, I sat down and actually MADE something!

It's just simple, but I'm liking it!  The stripes are adhesive ribbon and "boo" was a sticker!  All Martha goodies from Michael's.  Oh yeah ... so is the orange book ... which is a 5x7 accordian book!

The black band in the first photo is the rubber-band-like do-hickey that holds the accordian book together.  I wanted the cover to still be cute when the band was off, so I added more adhesive ribbon underneath it.

Whoo hoo!  I made something!  Now all I have left to do is fill it with all those fun Halloween photos to come!

Hope you're all enjoying October!

dave the modest ...

Well, Lyndsay, I think it made my husband's night when I showed him the comment you left on the fall decorating post.  *laugh*  He suggested I add a "Dave" gallery to my blog, filled only with photos of him.  (I don't know if his big head and I can be in the same room now!)  *wink*

Hee hee hee ...

You guys already check out Jen's blog, right?  This gal is seriously creative!

And you have GOT to check out this post!  This is perfect halloweenie goodness!  I was so drooling over this today!  And look at that silver tray!  It's sooo pretty!  (And lots of fun photos from the a*muse shop too!)

fall goodness ...

Still no sign of our household goods, so I've been spending my time doing what I can to make our new digs homey.  This weekend I did a little decorating ...

Nothing fancy, but it's fall-y and I'm happy with it.  I'm pleased with the pumpkin on the urn too.

I'm sooo not a buy-fake-flowers-and-do-something-pretty-with-them gal.  I would just have no clue.  But I think this looks pretty good if I do say so myself!  *laugh*  I fought with the stuff, but from the road it looks pretty good - and not too bad in the photo! (The leaves and berries were on strands I picked up at Michael's on sale at 50% off!  I figured if I couldn't make them work the $3 I spent wasn't gonna' be the end of the world.)

The rest of the weekend was spent running errands with our friends John and Emily (who just moved here from Germany as well) and going to little fall festivals and pumpkin patches.   I have to soak up all the fall goodness I can while it lasts!

Passed this guy out in the middle of no where near Pueblo ...

Pumpkins at Pantaleo Farm (and the Sangre de Christo mountain range in the distance).

Dave and his crooked pumpkin!

Hope you guys are enjoying fall too!
