cuckoo for you ...

When I first got into stamping I was befuddled by all the different methods of coloring in an image.  And there are a TON, aren't there?  Once I "got the hang" of it all a little better and started to find my own "style",  I realized that while I loved using different techniques and products, I always came back to designs that were clean and simple.  And with THAT realization came another: I didn't HAVE to color anything if I didn't want to!

And today I didn't want to!  *laugh*

Don't get me wrong, I love my Copics, watercoloring gadgets, colored pencils, etc. as much as the next girl ... but I don't think you always have to have an elaborately colored-in image to have a striking card!

And this one sure came together fast!  (It also didn't hurt that I'd cut the layers yesterday for a design assignment project that just wasn't working. *wink*)

The image and sentiment are from the recent A Muse Valentine release.  I love that clock.  Reminds me of Germany!

This card is all about "making do" too ...

See that scalloped border?  I did that with my Stampin' Up corner rounder punch, sans it's guard!  I know, I know, I'm the last person on Earth to figure this one out, but hey, let's blame it on living in another country for years and move on.  *wink*  It really is the neatest thing ... just remove the guard (which scared me at first, but it's easy peasy to do - and goes BACK on easy too) and punch!  You have to do a little lining up to make sure they punch in the right spots, but that's an easy thing to see once you get it in your hands.  Just try it on scrap the first go 'round!

I also couldn't find another punch I wanted to use for the tab with the brad.  So ... used a scrap , rounded the edge with the same corner rounder punch and voila!

Oh ... those little dots under the scallops?  Just that, tiny dots I made with a brown marker.

All stamps, patterned paper and solid red paper; A Muse. White and brown paper; Stampin Up.  Brad; Queen and Co. Timber Brown ink; Staz-on.

I've been working non-stop on design assigments the past couple of days, but tonight I'm taking a break.  At least for a couple of hours because ...

... Lost is back and I'm all about some Sawyer goodness!  Woot, woot!

Me to Dave a few minutes ago ...
"Ah, he's so pretty!"

Dave ...
"You're a dork."

That I am.  That I am.

are you an a*muse addict?

Some of you may already be familiar, members even, of the A Muse addicts group on Yahoo ... did you know a new, improved, bigger, better version launched today!?

Geeta, Michelle C, Jennie, and Rhonda have been working hard to find an easier, more user-friendly place for the group to keep growing!  And they've got a lot of fun planned: swaps, challenges, contests, prizes ... be sure to check it out!

pretty dresses ...

I'm knee deep in new spring images from Elzybells NA and A Muse, but am taking a wee break to share some cards I made last weekend in a rare into-the-wee-hours-stamp-a-thon with my Mom.  I love, love, love these!  Mom and I were both pretty giddy with the results.

They're all stamped on Basic Grey papers from those little 6x6 paper pads: which are just perfect for this kinda' thing because the patterns are shrunk down into miniature versions of the same 12x12 paper.  Why is that important?  For something like this, where you want the pattern to show through, it would be lost if you used the larger sheets.  Still pretty, but not quite the same.  And I just love the way these turned out!

The "bonjour" stamp is from one of my all-time favorite Cavallini sets: "Paris"!

EDIT:  Ooops!  Sorry about that, Penny!  The dress stamp is made by Inkadinkadoo.  I picked mine up some time ago at StampDiva (where I also picked up my Cavallini's), but Mom found hers at AC Moore last week.

a little blog tweaking ...

Yep ... doing a wee bit of tweaking to the ol' blog here.   Not quite done yet, but I've gotta' sleep now.  =)

Lots of crafting and stamping has been going on in my studio these days.  Unfortunately, a lot of it is under wraps for now ... but stayed tuned.  I'll be posting new crafty goodness on Tuesday!  (I know! New stuff!  Don't pass out!)

And coming soon ... lots of fun in California at CHA!

carving out memories ...

In the process of sorting out my crafty space, I've come across a couple of favorite projects and thought I'd share something crafty for a change!  *wink*

One of my all-time favorite projects ... a mini album about a pumpkin carving party we had in 2006. I love, love, love that tag.  It's actually the BACK of a fabric tag.  Something I'd had in my stash for a few years, but was so excited to use on this.  When you look at it from the front of the book it looks like a little green pumpkin stem.  So fun!

The book itself is a Maya Road chipboard album.  I cut circles to match, adhered them, added a few wordfetti stickers (love those!) and that was that.  I did Mod Podge over the photos.  Something I'm still not 100% sure I should have done.  I don't know what the trick is to that stuff ... but it always seems to look goopy when I'm done.  Yes.  Goopy.  (I have recently had much better luck with the Martha brand stuff from Michael's.  But keep in mind that I also find myself scratching my head when it comes to Stickles too.  I am just not good with that stuff.  I mean, really, what's wrong with me!?  But I digress ...)

You can see the rest of the book here ...

And ... I'm stamping again too!  Workin' with some stinkin' cute new Elzybells stuff!  I can't wait to share some with you guys!  You're gonna' love the new stuff!
