more october daily ...

I wanted to share a bit more of my October album with you today!  But first ... Raw2008.10.24.024
... a pic of Dave and I taken a couple of days ago in Old Saybrook, CT.  We stopped here 14 years ago on our honeymoon.  And today is our 14th wedding anniversary.  Crazy.  I can't believe it's been that long - seems like yesterday.

On to the October Daily!

Day 2 ...

This is the back of the day 2 page.  The spider web "button" is covering the back of the number on the other side.  I'm really likin' how the different pages and elements show through the clear bits!

Day 3 ... this was a flash card I cut to fit the book.

I sized my photo to the size of the flashcard, added a journaling tag, and day three was done!

Day 4 envelope ...

I have two photos, back to back, inside the envelope.

I did the journaling right on the photo before I printed it.

Day 5 ...

And the day 5 photo ... journaled on the photo before printing on this one too!  I'm really liking it!

Also ... check out Victoria's book!  She's making great progress on hers as well!  Lara, Mom ... haven't seen pics of your books in a while!  *wink*

I'll share more of the October Daily soon!  In the meantime, Ali Edward's has started posting about her December Daily for this year!  It's gorgeous!  be sure to check it out!  This has been a surprisingly easy way to scrapbook!

october daily: day one ...

I've been keeping on track, working on my October Daily a little every day.  Here's a peek at at how the cover shaped up and day one ...

I took a lot of inspiration from Ali Edwards for my cover ... which has been the toughest bit for me.  I actually put it together AFTER day one was finished.  I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted on it.  I decided to keep it simple (big surprise there, eh?), so there's not much on the actual cover: the "M" (for my last name) and the star.  (It's a clear album, so the rest is peeking through from other layers.)  I think I want the year on the cover too - just not sure where to put it yet. *smile*

My day one page.  Remember how the book looked when I started?  Just overlays?  I added journaling and the word "october" to the overlay and the photo is behind it (enlarged to 8x8).  Which you can see a little better in the next photo ...

When you turn the first overlay, I have a photo hiding the back of the journaling block.  I generally try to "hide" everything on clear pages, but I'm not sweating the numbers and letters that are showing through.  I spent the first day of October decorating the house for Halloween, so that's the story I'm trying to tell with my day one photos.  (Some may 'em recognize from my post the other day.  *wink*)

Turn the pumpkin page and this is on the back: the last bit of day one.  To add in this page, I cut a piece of cardstock to 8x8, added the photo to one side and the patterned paper to the other.  Easy peasy (and it's PLENTY sturdy).  (You can also see just a wee bit of day two in this one too.  *hee hee*)

It's been a fun project so far.  It seemed a bit daunting at first, doing a page everyday.  But it's actually been really easy.  Having the book put together in advance has made all the difference!  My Mom is making one too ... here's a link to the first couple of days she's done.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of the weekend, get a little packing done, and work on day four!  I'll be sharing more days soon!

PS - You can check out the original post here, for the details behind the October Daily.  *smile*

october daily ...

A few days ago I posted about a mini album I was working on - an October "Daily" album (based on an Ali Edward's idea).  With October just a few days away (how did THAT happen?!), I finished it up today!  (It always feels so good to finish something!)

The book has 31 pages, all different sizes - one for each day of the month.

Nothing fancy - mostly clear pages and envelopes from my stash.   I did a lot of cutting to make the clear overlays stretch as far as they could.

The page numbers came from different packs of alphabet stickers (the printed numbers on circles came from an Etsy shop called Every Jot and Title.)

The last pages!

The book is a real mish mash of paper sizes ...

I'm really curious how it will turn out in the end!  I've never made a book like this before and letting go of a bit of control over what the final book will look like was a little tough for me (since the pages are already set) - but here goes nothing!

And ... I know a couple of you are playing along.  If you'll leave me links when you post your pages, I'll add 'em to my posts so we can all keep track of one another's progress!

Even if you didn't feel like you could make a book in advance, but wanna' play along each day as we go - please do!  The more the merrier!

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

october daily

Thank you guys so much for the nice comments yesterday about Mom's shop!   I'll be sure to take pics when I visit in October!

You guys know I'm a big fan of Ali Edward's.  Well, last December she posted a mini book project on her blog she called a "December Daily" album. The basic idea - she built the album ahead of time, with a page for each day of the month, until Christmas.  Then in December, she added a little something about each day (and a photo).

I loved the idea and have been planning to give it a go since.  Only ... for October.  *grin*  (And that first photo is the stack of things I pulled from my stash to use for it!)

And now that I'm feeling a little better, I finally got started on it (you can see it here in this photo)!  It's 8x8, with mostly clear "pages" - all different sizes - and a few envelopes.  I'm about a third of the way done and will add numbers to each page for days of the month.

So what do you think?  Sound like fun?  The plan is to finish it in the next few days and share my progress with you through October!

But then I thought ... wouldn't it be cool if other folks were doing one too and we all shared them through October?  I figure it's a long shot, but I think it would be fun!  What do you think?  Want to play along?  *laugh*

I'll post a shot of my progress on the book in the next couple of days!
