share your spark fridays ...

Happy Friday everyone ... and welcome to Share Your Spark Fridays!  I want to thank everyone again for such a great response last week!  If you missed it last week ... this post will tell you what it's all about!

On to this week's inspiration!  Earlier in the week I made a card using flocking.  It was the first time I'd ever used the fuzzy stuff and it was a lot of fun (and I loved the way the chickie looked)!  It made me decide to make an effort to try new crafty things and to use some of those things I've bought, but haven't actually used yet!  So here's your spark of inspiration for this week ...

Try something new!  Something you've never used before!

It could be a product you've been meaning to try, but haven't.  A stamp you bought and have never inked up.  A new technique.  A new fold or style of card.  Basically ... do something (anything!) you've never done before!

Here's what I did ...

I've had bottles of Pearl Ex sitting around for eons.  I'd always meant to try "painting" with them, but never got around to it!  So that's what I did!  I used a product I'd bought with the best of intentions, but never put to good use!  And you know what ... the sparkle/shimmer is really pretty!  I'm so glad I finally tried it!

There are many ways to use Pearl-Ex ... for this, I chose to use a little water and a Q-tip.  (You can mix Pearl-Ex with water and gum arabic for a more watercolored effect, but I wanted lots of coverage and color, so I used just a TAD of water and lots of pigment).   In retrospect, a small paintbrush would have probably worked a bit better (given better control), but I was still happy with the results.

From the side it looks so much lighter, but it's actually just the reflection of light on the Pearl Ex!  That little birdie is so blue and REALLY shimmers!

A few details about the images ... the birdie and sentiment is part of the Nature Clear Set from A Muse.  And that cute, doodle-y border is also A Muse ... from the Fancy Borders set!

So there you have it!  Just like last week ... leave a link to your spark in a comment so we can all check 'em out!  I'm really looking forward to seeing what sparks you share this week!

Paper and images; A Muse.  Ink; Colorbox turquoise chalk ink and Staz-On Jet Black.  Pearl Ex turquoise pigment.

This is super cute!

I was totally inspired by you for this one!! I thought it was just the flower drinks card, but I think I was channeling this "tweet" card, too!! I used stamps that have never seen ink and my Scor-Pal for the first time!! Thanks for another great challenge!!
